About Me

What’s Am I Doing?

Well I’m on an adventure to see the World. The trip started in Dublin on the 8th of May 2008 and I thought was going to take 12-16 months. Was I ever wrong…….. I had saved up enough to stay in Europe for that long not even realizing that India, and South East Asia would be so cheap. It’s been well over two and a half years now and I can’t see an end date in sight. There are so many amazing things to see and do in the World I just wish I could keep travelling forever…. but since I am not independently wealthy I will just see as much as I can on a budget. I’m travelling with my lovely self-proclaimed “gentleman adventurer” Chris Liberty, and our mascot Spidey. Together we have been lost and confused in many countries, and hopefully will continue travelling in circles for even longer.

I know a lot of travellers out there love to read up on countries, know the best places to go and have some sort of linear plan before arriving…. I think that’s great for some, but I’m just not that organized :). We’ve been doing pretty good with a loose outline.

Who is Sheryl Anyways?

Meeeeeee!! I’m a Canadian girl who lived outside Toronto in a place called Mississauga. I’ve always wanted to see the world. I’ve seen a bunch of the Caribbeanwith my family, and went on a big trip to Europe when I was in my early 20’s. My Dad used to go on business trips all over the world when I was a kid and watching his slides made me want to see more of the world. Once travel is in your blood, that’s it. I was a Travel Agent before I left home until I realized it was more fun to travel then to sell it. So I’m living my dream and stretching this trip out as long as I can.  Happy Face

I do miss my family and friends, but luckily the internet is available most of the time and I can keep in touch. Anytime I get really homesick I just think about all my belongings in boxes in my sisters basement….. how I’ll get home and be jobless, homeless, and most likely penny-less…… and then I’m not as homesick anymore :).

What’s My Goal?

To see as many places in the world as I can. I wish I was independently wealthy and could afford to stay in every country a few months to learn languages and meet lots of locals. But what can ya do. We have slowed down in our travels and have stopped a few times to catch our breath. To date our longest stops so far have been in Georgetown Malaysia for two months, Kuching (Borneo) Malaysia for over two months and now we are in Alice Springs in Australia for a few (It’s Nov 2010).  It’s nice to take it slow sometimes and pretend we are “normal” people and not dirty backpackersHappy Face

Is There a Plan?

There’s always a plan…. and then it changes, and changes and gets altered all the time :). Originally our plan was to travel around the world for as long as we could. We figured we’d have to come home after 12-14 months, but that just wasn’t long enough. The world is a big place, and whats the rush? So now we are faking it with loose plans. We had very few things pre booked before we left and I am so happy we did it that way. Almost every person we have met that has a pre booked Around The World ticket have had to change or abandoned them completely.  At the moment we are in Australia (November 2010), and our loose plan for the future is to head to New Zealand in February, try to see some Islands like Fiji, or Tonga, then fly over to South America….. if we’re lucky we may be able to head to the Caribbean for a bit before heading back to the Great White North :).

Again, it’s only a loose plan and what’s the rush :).
