Hello from Toronto Airport :). After preparing for the last 2 years this day has finally come and I am so nervous and excited :). Did I leave the stove on??

I always wanted to see the world, but thought I'd do it in clumps. I've been to Europe on a backpacking adventure once before, but that was a long time ago (pre- Euro, pre- internet) :). Originally I had thought that was a warm up trip for Asia, but for some reason never went on a big trip after that.... Until Now... (did I mention I was excited?)

Chris and I have been toying around with the idea of this trip for a few years, then suddenly realized there was really nothing stopping us from doing it. Chris lived in a small place in Toronto, me in a small place in Mississauga and neither of us really own that much stuff. So we ditched almost everything we own at my sisters place (Thanks Sara and Simon), and found homes for my fish and lizards (I hope they behave themselves). From there mostly just getting stuff ready, and having a loose plan.....

The only thing we actually have booked so far is our flight now to Dublin Ireland..... A flight in October from Paris to Nairobi where we have a 2 month overland tour booked..... We've arranged a place to stay at Christmas in Cape Town South Africa at Nicola's Gran's (AKA Joan) place.... Then a flight in January to Chennai India. That's it, but that's 8 months worth already, so not too bad :). Everything in between I'm sure we'll figure out.

The last two week have been mental. Visiting family, packingĀ  up two apartments, leaving work, seeing friends, and squatting at Nicola and Suzannes place after we became homeless :). Thanks guys.

So Toronto's weather has turned cold and rainy and makes me wonder what we were thinking about starting our trip in Ireland??????????? I'm sure it'll be great, and if it's going to rain Ireland is he best place to be :).

I'm so excited to start, and my main concern at this point is the weight of my pack. The thing is huge and I have no clue how I'm going to be able to get around with such a beast. I only hope my back can do it. Wish me luck.

Alright, time to walk around the airport again. Guess I should get used t this feeling.

Take care everyone, and cross your fingers for us :).

Sheryl, the nervous gal. :).
